Tips For Cleansing and Fasting

How I Was Introduced To Cleansing and Fasting
I first got introduced to cleansing by my little sister about 15 years ago. She was a professional model and had been introduced to the benefits of doing a cleanse to maintain her natural healthy skin. Afterwards, she shared with me the full range of benefits you can experience. Cleansing your body from inside by taking a cleansing product of some kind plus combining it with a juice fast or water fast offers tremendous health benefits. From her enthusiasm, I tried my first cleanse. Since that first experience, I’ve totally sold on the benefits of regular cleanses and fasting. I started off with juice fasting then slowly into water fasting. Since I’ve being doing this, I get a lot of friends and family that ask what has been working for me. I’m always happy to share but at this time, it just makes more sense to write it all down and refer people to the link. Enjoy.
What Cleanse To Do?
It’s all up to you. But if you’re new to cleanses, it’s best to start off slow. Even if you’re totally healthy, you are full of toxins from years of exposure to chemicals in the food, air, water, etc.. I recommend that you read "Natural Cures They Don’t Want You To Know About", by Kevin Trudeau. It’s a great book on the subject and covers it all in detail, especially the types of cleanses.
Regardless of the cleanse I do, I always make sure that a simple colon cleanse is part of it. I use a combination of Bentonite Powder and Psyllium Whole Husk mixed into juice/water for colon cleansing (see below). This will help carry absorb and carry out the waste that is placed in your colon during a cleanse.
Do I Eat, Juice Fast or Water Fast?
Once again it is all up to you. I have a list of books included below which I’ve found very useful in figuring out what works for me. The best book I’ve come across and I recommend you read it is "The Miracle of Fasting" by Patricia Bragg & Paul C. Bragg.
I would avoid all things toxic during your cleanse. I cut out all processed foods, fast food, junk food, fried food, sugar, deserts, salt, caffeine, alcohol, and anything toxic.. I also cut out all beef, pork shellfish. If I eat meat, it’s usually fish or chicken.. When eating, I stick to organic fresh fruits, vegetables, juices, nuts, and sprouts.
If you choose to juice fast, understand that it really isn’t considered a real "fast". You can get all the benefits from juice fasting but it just takes longer. Juice fasting still gives your digestive tract a break but allows your body to get some liquid food.
If you choose to water fast, be careful if you’re not use to it. It will cleanse you faster than any other method but it can put a tremendous amount of strain on your liver and kidneys. It’s wise to start off with a 24-36 hr water fast.
If you’re not use to cleansing, start off slow.
What To Expect?
Once again, it depends on you, how toxic you are, the type of cleanse, the type of fast and the length you do it for. You should expect to feel a little under the weather at first. You can expect the same symptoms that you get when you have the flu. You might run a fever, have headaches, get nauseous, feel weak, get diarrhea, etc.. However, it shouldn’t last too long. If it does, it means you’re doing too much too quickly. Drinking lots of water and following the tips below will help relieve some problems. But if it gets too intense, use your best judgment.
If all goes well, after a few days, you’ll actually start to enjoy your cleanse, especially fasting. I usually feel pretty uncomfortable for the first 3-4 days of my fasting. After that, it gets easy. I still get occasional moments of sickness, but I know that’s just toxins being passed out of me. Once I get it out, I’m feeling better again… especially knowing that my cleanse is working!
Tips For A Successful Cleanse and Fast

Drink lots of distilled water! (I prefer Ozarka). This will help flush toxins out and keep you hydrated. Distilled water doesn’t put strain on your kidney’s like other water does. Consume at least 8 to 10 Glasses of water each day. I think the rule of thumb is to take your full body weight in pounds, divide by two and that’s how many ounces of water (ie, 150 lbs / 2 = 75 oz of water per day)

Take a full lemon and squeeze the juice of it into a glass of water. Do this once in the morning and once at night before bed. You can also do this during the day a few times if you want to. This lemon juice helps make sure you don’t get kidney stones. You can alternate taking lemon juice with Apple Cider Vinegar (next bullet).

Take 3 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar (with Mother). Mix it with a few oz of water and drink it down. Do this once in the morning and once at night. You can also do this a few times during the day. Apple Cider Vinegar is good for the intestinal / digestive system. It will help with your fast and also helps the kidneys also (similar to lemon juice).

You might want to take 3000mg of a good quality product Vitamin C daily. This helps your body cleanse.

Take a probiotic daily. This will replenish you’re colon with good bacteria. This is especially important when you’re done your fast.

To help carry out the waste during your cleanse, mix 6 oz of juice with 6 oz of distilled water. Per each 100 lbs you weigh, mix in 1 level tablespoon of Psyllium Whole Husks and 1 level tablespoon of Bentonite Clay Powder (ie, 150 lbs person would mix in 1 1/2 tablespoons of each). Mix well with hand mixer. Drink right down immediately. (It will turn to a gel and harden if you let it sit even for a few seconds). Immediately drink another 12 oz of water. This water will further expand the mixture and fill up your stomach / digestive tract. It will suck up all the toxins and also make sure you are not hungry (if fasting).
The Bentonite Clay Powder will act as a sponge. The Psyllium Whole Husk will act as a gentle scrapper for the walls of the colon. This mixture is not be digested and pass right thru you. Because this mixture will absorb anything and everything, make sure that you take this 1 hour after taking any vitamins, juice and/or supplements. Also wait one hour before consuming anything.
Drink this mixture only once per day if you are eating regular food. If you are fasting, you can increase this up to 5 times per day.

Use Milk Thistle and Dandelion Root Extract as needed to help with liver, gall bladder and kidney functions.
