Winter Energy Boosters
It’s cold; you don’t want to get out of bed; there’s less light during the day; your energy is low. It must be Winter!
|
Many people feel more sluggish in winter.Between the cold weather and stress that often comes with the Holiday season, it can be a challenge just to get out of your nice, warm bed. It’s easy to rely on stimulants like caffeine to try and jump-start your body’s motor. Your body needs natural, lasting energy to get you through the wintry chill. But what are the alternatives to coffee, sugar and other “artificial energy” stimulants? |

Winter Diet Plan
The seasons change – so can your diet for each one. In winter, try a balance of protein and carbs while avoiding fatty and fried foods. For breakfast, try fat-free yogurt with berries or a two-egg omelet with tons of veggies. Have a nice bowl of hot homemade soup for lunch, such as chicken noodle, lentil, or vegetable. For dinner, aim for cold-water fish at least a couple of times per week. Also try turkey or lean beef, but remember to keep your portions in check. Make dark green vegetables a staple of every dinner. For sweet treats (see our list on p. 20), keep citrus fruit handy.
As part of your diet plan – year-round or in winter – be sure you drink at least eight glassesof water per day to purge your body of toxins that wear you down. And make sure you eat! Not eating is not healthy. Food is the primary way your body is fueled to meet the demands you face each day, so skipping meals is out of the question. In fact, snacking healthily between meals can lower your metabolism, preventing weight gain. Aim for bite-sized vegetables, or low-salt crackers and peanut butter.
Work Out – Relax
You need regular exercise to keep your body and mind sharp. But you also need regular breaks and rest. To keep your energy level peak in Winter, make sure you are getting 30 minutes of good cardio exercise each day, and give yourself time to relax and take a few deep breaths each day too. This balance will keep your inner systems working their best throughout the day.
Supplement
There are some vitamin and mineral supplements that can and do boost your energy levels; the trouble is determining which ones are right for you. For starters, you need doctor-formulated supplements like those offered by TriVita to ensure you are getting the right vitamins in the right amounts, and in the form best utilized by your body. An example is TriVita’s B-12, B-6 & Folic Acid, which is taken sublingually – under the tongue – which speeds the energy-boosting vitamins to your blood stream. Other nutrients that offer an immediate boost in energy are CoQ10, Creatine, Magnesium, and Green Tea Extract. TriVita’s Energy Now! supplement offers some of these nutrients and a host of others to speed energy to your body. Combining B-12, B-6 & Folic Acid with Energy Now! gives you both immediate and long term energy to keep you going in the cool winter days.
Laugh and Celebrate
Laughter is good medicine, and a great way to boost your mood; and when your mood is good,
your energy is high. Let go with a big belly laugh every chance you get, and feel the difference in your level of energy. Celebrate your life and the lives of those around you while you’re at it. Sharing joy together will energize not just your body, but your soul as well – and that kind of energy is worth more than anything!
